The Food Safety and Security Authority, together with the Superintendent of Public Health, has issued a precautionary warning advising the public not to consume the food supplement known as Dark Mamba.

The notice applies to all product weights, batches, and expiry dates.

This action follows the discovery that the supplement was never formally notified as required under Subsidiary Legislation 449.36, which governs food supplements. As a result, the product does not comply with local regulatory requirements.

Authorities emphasised that food supplements may pose health risks if used improperly. Unnecessary consumption, excessive intake, or combining multiple supplements can lead to adverse side effects.

These risks may be heightened when supplements interact with prescribed medication or pre-existing medical conditions. Officials reiterated that supplements should not replace a balanced diet.

Members of the public are strongly encouraged to consult a doctor, pharmacist, or another qualified healthcare professional before beginning any supplement regimen.

For further details, the Food Safety and Security Authority can be contacted by telephone on +356 26025000 between 08:00 and 15:00 on weekdays, or via email at info.fssa@gov.mt.
