Renowned actor and director EA Rajendran dies at 71. Read about his iconic roles in Kaliyattam and his legacy in Malayalam cinema.

Kollam: Veteran actor and director EA Rajendran passed away early on Thursday morning at his residence in Pattathanam, Kollam. He was 71.
Rajendran had been undergoing treatment for prolonged health issues.
EA Rajendran was a powerhouse in the Malayalam theatre circle. Even while battling physical ailments, his passion for the stage never wavered, and he continued to direct plays until his health no longer permitted.
Beyond the stage, he left a major mark on the Malayalam film industry. Over a career spanning decades, he appeared in approximately 60 films, often portraying memorable villains and complex character roles. Some of his most notable cinematic contributions include Kaliiyattam, Pranayavarnangal and Pattabhishekam.
He is survived by his wife, Sandhya Rajendran. Rajendran was also the brother-in-law of popular actor and Kollam MLA, M Mukesh.
The funeral is scheduled to take place on Friday in Thrissur.
