Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture Michael Healy-Rae said he will resist any plans to remove the chapel at University Hospital Kerry (UHK) as part of proposals to re-develop the hospital campus which are currently under review.

The issue sparked controversy when it emerged that the Christ the Healer Chapel – a place of comfort and consolation for decades – may be removed as part of future development to make way for a planned six-bed ward.
