Leitrim boxer Dean Clancy has been selected to join the Irish boxing team on their trip to the World Boxing Cup: Brazil next month.
The Olympian and Manothamilton boxer will compete in the 65kg division at the championships, against 31 other boxers.

This is a benchmark competition that will run across three tournaments, where elite male and female boxers will compete to accrue ranking points in their respective categories.
The first stage will kick off between April 20th and 27th, with the other two stages taking place in China in June and Uzbekistan in November.Â
The Irish team will feature six Olympians, including Daina Moorehouse, Jenny Lehane, Michaela Walsh, Jude Gallagher, Dean Clancy and Jack Marley. They will be joined by 2025 World bronze medalist Patsy Joyce and multiple European U23 medalist Louis Rooney.Â

The Sean McDermott’s Boxing Club man is the sole Connacht-based competitor on the team, which includes members from clubs in Belfast, Dublin, Louth, Tyrone, Westmeath, and Wicklow.
The draw for matches will take place on April 19th at 10:30pm, Irish time, with the competition being streamed by World Boxing on their YouTube channel.
