Legal action will be taken against the State by Limerick-based gardaí who walked free from court after facing unproven accusations of perverting the course of justice, their solicitor has said.

The State withdrew a total of 33 charges against gardaí Peter O’Donnell (52), Paul Baynham (37) and Niall Deegan (51) last Wednesday, after what the Garda Representative Association described as a “six-year hell” and “witch hunt” for the gardaí.
