Roy Keane very rarely talks about his personal life, but was known to be very close to his parents. Marie was a mother of five and was a formidable influence on her son Roy, who played for Manchester United and Celtic and lined out for the Republic of Ireland almost 70 times. His father, Maurice (Mossie), passed away in August 2019.
Both Marie and Mossie were extremely supportive of Roy’s footballing ambitions. The parents moved from their native Mayfield to Rathpeacon after Roy bought them a house following his success in the Premier League.
Roy was known to frequently travel home to Leeside to visit. During one such visit a few years back, the star shared a photo with his mother, referring to her as ‘the only boss he’d listen to.’
