A woman aged in her 20s has been arrested in relation to an investigation into alleged use of fraudulent European passports to launder over €160,000.

Gardaí carried out a search of a residential property in south Dublin on Monday.

Following the search, gardaí seized a number of documents of evidential value and a car.

A woman, aged in her 20s, was arrested and is currently detained at a Garda station in the Dublin Metropolitan Region.

As part of Operation Skein, the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau (GNECB), supported by Europol and Interpol, works closely with law enforcement partners across several jurisdictions.

A Garda spokesperson said that this “coordinated international approach reflects the scale and sophistication of the criminal network under investigation”.

“Investigations are ongoing,” they added.

Operation Skein, coordinated by GNECB, investigates international climinal organisations which commit fraud worldwide and launder the proceeds through networks of bank accounts in Ireland.
