Flea says the new documentary about late Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Hillel Slovak “filled my heart right to the top.”
“I finally watched the new documentary about Hillel Slovak,” he posted on his Instagram stories. And while the band initially tried to distance themselves from the doc, Flea seems to have now fully embraced the project. “I’m so grateful it exists, and that more people will know how much he meant and continues to mean to us as a friend and bandmate. It is a beautifully made film and filled my heart right to the top, not without a good dose of lifelong melancholy. Hillel forever.”
Netflix is streaming the documentary, titled The Rise of the Red Hot Chili Peppers: Our Brother, Hillel. The film, which premiered March 20th, has drawn controversy for using AI to recreate Slovak’s voice.
