Three Kerry survivors of industrial and reformatory schools who are on day one of a hunger strike outside the gates of Dáil Éireann have said that they are prepared to go for ‘as long as it takes’ to persuade the government to grant their two important demands.

Mary O’Donovan and Miriam Moriarty Owens from Tralee, and Maurice Patton-O’Connell from Cahersiveen are a part of a six-person group who are on hunger strike at the gates of Leinster House.
