On a recent episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, Kelly Ripa revealed that she is not a fan of going commando at night.
Ripa said not wearing underwear has gotten her pregnant by her husband Mark Consuelos “at least twice.”
Ripa and Consuelos, who have been married for 30 years, share three children together.
Kelly Ripa is getting candid about her underwear habits. During a recent episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, Ripa revealed that she is not a fan of going commando at night. Reading off of a list of questions submitted by fans during the show, Mark Consuelos posed the question, “Should we wear underwear all the time?” For Ripa, the answer was an immediate and unwavering “yes.”
While one adamant guest argued that it’s important to “air [everything] out,” Ripa was quick to share her rebuttal with the live studio audience. “No, no, I’m not airing anything out,” she said. “No, I don’t want to air it all out. I got pregnant at least twice that way.” As the room, including her husband, broke into laughter, Ripa jokingly added, “I sleep in metal britches — metallic britches with a code. You have to scan your eye [to open them].”

Kelly Ripa Shares Her Underwear Habits on an Episode of Live with Kelly and Mark

Ripa, who has been married to Consuelos for 30 years, shares three children with her husband, including 28-year-old son Michael, 24-year-old daughter Lola, and 23-year-old son Joaquin. While the couple rarely posts photos with their children, Ripa and both celebrated Consuelos’s birthday at the end of March with individual photo dumps on Instagram. The sweet photos shared a rare glimpse into the family’s private life.
Though Ripa isn’t exactly a fan of going commando, she isn’t afraid to show some skin on occasion. On September 30, Ripa stepped out at the Broadcasting + Cable Hall Of Fame Awards 33rd Anniversary Gala in a black blazer layered over nothing but a sheer lace top. She styled the braless ensemble with black trousers, a matching clutch, and strappy heeled sandals in silver that showed off her burgundy pedicure.
As far as her style game goes, Ripa also looked stunning in a strapless gold sequin gown with a corset bodice as she walked alongside Consuelos on the 2026 Oscars red carpet on March 15.

Since the couple began working together, Ripa says their recording schedule has had a direct impact on their sex life. “I said to him, ‘Here’s the thing, there needs to be a yin and a yang here. It can’t always be your way. ‘Cause it feels like 90 percent of the time it’s your way. And now that we work together every day, it’s gonna have to sometimes be my way, and my way’s at night only,'” Ripa said during a July 2025 episode of the Not Skinny but Not Fat podcast in reference to her preferred intimacy time slot. “The greatest thing about this job,” she added, “[is that] this thing has, like, almost repulsed him from morning time during the work week, which is like a miracle.”
