A female pedestrian is seriously ill in hospital after being struck by a lorry in Letterkenny this afternoon.
The incident occurred in the area of the Station Roundabout shortly after 3pm.
“Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to a collision involving a pedestrian and lorry at Station Roundabout, Port Road, Letterkenny,” a garda spokesperson said.
“The pedestrian, an adult female, has been taken to hospital with serious injuries. The scene is currently preserved and local traffic diversions are in place.”
Traffic restrictions will remain in place until tomorrow afternoon and all roads accessing the roundabout, except the Pearse Road, are closed.
The following update has been provided by Donegal County Council:
Only access to the Letterkenny Shopping Centre and the main street are available from Pearse Road. However, there is no access to the roundabout from the shopping centre. All shopping centre traffic must exit via the link road to Port Road.
The Port Road is closed from the junction with Joe Bonner Road, with diversions via Joe Bonner and Neil T Blaney Roads.
The Ramelton Road is closed from Oatfield Roundabout, diversions via Ramelton and De Valera Road
