Ruby’s sweet on Place De La Nation in the 15:50 at Fairyhouse on Easter Sunday.
It’s Easter Sunday which can only mean one thing – Ruby Walsh is here to offer up his best bets for the day’s action in Ireland and yes, that is chocolate all around his mouth not a natty new moustache/goatee combo. So scoff down the eggs and listen up, here’s the GOAT’s Sunday shouts.

Soie De Garde has been disappointing to date, having only won a maiden hurdle at Tramore. ABSURDE has a rating of 153 and looks the obvious choice with Harry Cobden coming over for the ride. Ndaawi looks the obvious danger, but he’s been in good form on the flat, and this flat track should really suit him. He’ll take plenty of beating having his second start back over obstacles.
14:40 Fairyhouse – Leader d’Allier
There’s plenty of strong form on offer, but I fancied LEADER D’ALLIER at Cheltenham, before he was scratched on the morning of the race. He failed the trot-up due to a foot issue that came on quite quickly, but he’s been in great order ever since. He’s verfy hard to oppose in this lineup, considering I was making a strong case for him in the Supreme! He should be hard to beat.
15:15 Fairyhouse – He’s on Fire
This is another competitive heat, with plenty of strong form on offer. Patrick Mullins was raving about HE’S ON FIRE after he ran out an impressive winner at Carlisle, and he’s the one for me. He gave him a great feel throughout the race, and he was very impressive in the way he quickened and put the race to bed. He looks like an extremely talented prospect who’s going in the right direction, and he could be a good bit better than his current rating of 138.
15:50 Fairyhouse – Place De La Nation
Oldschool Outlaw is probably the right favourite, and this step up in trip should suit. That said, PLACE DE LA NATION only has a length to make up on her, and she’s a far bigger price. She’s already proven beyond this trip, and she definitely looks overpriced all things considered.
17:00 Fairyhouse – Sixmilebridge
Connections opted to skip Cheltenham with SIXMILEBRIDGE, and that looked the right decision to me. He makes the trip across having had a short break since the end of January, and he should relish the conditions at Fairyhouse. The trip is ideal, and his run in the Scilly Isles would be good enough to add another Grade 1 to his tally.
