Gardaí arrested a sixth man in connection with the investigation into an attempted murder of Charles Dooher in Lifford last year.
The young Lifford was man beaten to within an inch of his death at his home in the border town on 20th January, 2025.
The man, aged in his 50s, was arrested on Sunday and detained at a Garda Station in the North Western Region under section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007.
He has since been released and a file will be prepared for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Last November, Gardaí arrested another man in connection with the investigation into the attempted murder Mr Dooher.
The man, aged in his 40s, was arrested and detained at a Garda Station in the Dublin Metropolitan Region under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984. However, he was later released and a file prepared for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Two men were also arrested in January last year by the PSNI in Derry as part of the investigation but were later released on bail. The PSNI arrested another man in July and Gardaí arrested a woman, 50s, in Donegal, the previous week. Both were later released without charge, pending further investigations.
