Alberta Health Services (AHS) is warning the public about a possible measles exposure at Rockyview General Hospital.

AHS says an infected person visited Rockyview’s emergency department on Apr. 4. Anyone who was in the ER between 10:27 a.m. and 6:17 p.m. may have been exposed.

The advisory applies to people born in or after 1970 who have fewer than two documented doses of measles vaccine, or who have never had measles.

Health officials urge potentially exposed individuals to monitor for symptoms, such as fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, or a rash, and to review their immunization records.

If symptoms develop, AHS stresses that people should stay home and call the measles hotline before visiting any healthcare facility to avoid further spread.
