Casualty spoilers follow.
Flynn might have settled into the role as clinical lead in Holby, but it really feels as though we’re still only scratching the surface of this mysterious character.
When Dylan recently did some digging on his colleague, he discovered that Flynn had a baby son who was heartbreakingly taken off life-support back in 2011.

Despite this reluctant emotional breakthrough, Flynn’s behaviour continues to spiral out of control this week. Actor Olly Rix tells us what’s next for the military medic…
Hi, Olly! Was it helpful for you to learn more about Flynn’s past?
“Absolutely, I’m glad that the show is investigating his past and offering some insight into why he is like he is.
“There are some deeply traumatic events from his military career, but there are traumatic personal events as well, and now we’re explaining those.
“Flynn can be brutally efficient and coldly professional, but there’s a lot of depth. He’s a fundamentally decent man.”

Will we explore more about Flynn’s experiences in the military?
“We’re filming an entire boxset on it at the moment, but I’m going to keep that under wraps for the time being.
“I think that it’s a really nice story, and it goes an enormous way towards fleshing out an understanding of who this man is. I’m excited for that one.”

Flynn’s relationship with Dylan is interesting, they’ve gone on quite a journey…
“They have a lot of professional respect for each other, but have different methods of navigating their responsibilities.
“But no matter how at odds they can be at times, there is an understanding there – and Flynn ends up confiding in Dylan the way he might do a sponsor. I like their relationship, it’s certainly a varied one!”
