Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street’s Ben Driscoll continues to struggle with the recent revelations about his biological dad’s identity next week. With the dust starting to settle, can Ben ever forgive his mum Maggie, and accept that he’s got a raft of relatives living on the same street?

“You don’t even get this much drama on Long Lost Family – Maggie’s admission that she cheated on her late husband with Steve’s dad Jim, and Ben was the result, has rattled everyone,” recaps our Corrie insider. “Ben is trying to move forward, but that’s going to be easier said than done…”

Keen to repair the damage done to her family by Maggie’s deceit, Ben’s partner Eva Price decides to get them all together so they can talk it out.

Ben is still angry with his mum and is reluctant to sit opposite her for peace talks at the Bistro. But Eva refuses to put up with the poisonous atmosphere at home a minute longer, so she persuades Ben, Maggie, Will and Ollie to play nice.

It’s not just Maggie’s fling with the late Jim McDonald that has caused issues, as the clan are also reeling from Megan Walsh’s cruel manipulation of Will. So taking time to talk to each other sounds like a great idea – in theory, anyway.

Steve soon enters the Bistro and spies Ben and his brood. He’s pleasantly surprised when Ben asks him and Cassie Plummer to join them, declaring that he now considers them a part of the family.

Eva is relieved that Ben appears to be accepting the situation, but can the clan get through a whole meal without another argument breaking out?

Later in the week, relations remain strained between Maggie and her fuming relatives. She’s planned a coffee morning with mates in the Rovers back room, but Eva tells her future mother-in-law to make alternative arrangements as she’s promised Susie she can have her friends round. When Ben backs up Eva, Maggie is crushed to realise how upset he still is.

“Steve still has questions about their affair, but Maggie doesn’t want to discuss it and shuts him down,” adds our insider. “Ben, however, is eager to chat with his newly-discovered half sibling about something…”

Approaching Steve in the pub, Ben insists they have a drink as there are things the brothers need to discuss. Is he ready for the Driscolls and McDonalds to co-exist as a blended family? Or is Steve’s presence too painful a reminder of Maggie’s betrayal?

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
