Professor Layton Makes His Long-Awaited PS5 Debut Later This Year 1

We got Inazuma Eleven and Fantasy Life last year, and now legendary dev Level-5 has announced that Professor Layton will finally make his PS5 debut in 2026.

The latest game in the series, Professor Layton and the New World of Steam, has just been confirmed for a simultaneous worldwide release on Sony’s console. It’ll also come to Switch 2, Switch, and PC.

Here’s a new trailer, confirming the target platforms:

The game will feature full mouse support on Sony’s console, so you’ll be able to hook one up via USB and control the game that way if you choose to.

For those who don’t know, Professor Layton is a long-running puzzle adventure series, which blends visual novel aspects with extremely fun logic puzzles. This new version will feature 3D cutscenes, improved movement, and new companion characters.

While it’s not a Nintendo property, Level-5 has prioritised portable platforms like the DS, 3DS, and even smartphones over the years. This is the first time in the franchise’s near-20 year history that it’ll release on a Sony console.
