Bus Éireann will take over Route 310 in Limerick with a new electric fleet.
Limerick commuters are set for a major upgrade to their daily travel as Bus Éireann prepares to take over Route 310 from Dublin Coach starting Monday, April 20, 2026.
The National Transport Authority (NTA) confirmed the contract change today, marking a shift toward more sustainable city transport. The route, which connects the city centre to the National Technology Park and Annacotty, will now be operated by a fully electric fleet, promising a quieter and cleaner journey for passengers.
A significant change coming with the new contract is the realignment of the route to serve the recently completed Bloodmill Road extension. This move is designed to improve access to key local hubs, including the Educate Together Secondary School and the Bon Secours Private Hospital.
While the route will no longer serve a small section of the Ballysimon Road east of the Childers Road roundabout, which will instead be covered by Route 328, the NTA says the change reflects the growing needs of the city’s residential and employment areas.
From the 20th of April, the service will operate seven days a week with departures every 30 minutes. FTFI Leap Cards and Free Travel Passes will remain valid, and, in a move to increase accessibility, cash will now be accepted on board.
Jeremy Ryan, Director of Public Transport Services at the NTA, said the introduction of the new contract ensures the continued delivery of a reliable and accessible service for Limerick communities.
Allen Parker of Bus Éireann added that the company is “delighted” to take over the route, noting that the combination of the electric fleet and the improved route alignment will significantly enhance the passenger experience.
