A pharmacist caused a “major risk to public safety” when she left work nearly an hour early with no other pharmacist on duty and prescription medicines were issued to members of the public in her absence, a fitness to practice inquiry has heard.

Dr Martina Geraghty, who works as a pharmacist and is co-owner of the Molloy’s Pharmacy and Health Food Store chain of pharmacies in the west of Ireland, appeared before the hearing at the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI) before a professional conduct committee panel today.
