Waterford named top of Ireland’s ‘Wonder’ list again by renowned global travel giant

Waterford has once again been named the top destination in Ireland by Condé Nast Traveller, securing first place in the prestigious “7 Wonders of Ireland” list for 2026.

It marks a second consecutive year of international acclaim for the county, with Visit Waterford welcoming the news as a major boost for the region’s global reputation.

The announcement builds on a strong run of recognition and reinforces Waterford’s growing appeal among international travellers seeking authentic, experience-led destinations.

The 2026 list highlights locations offering a fresh perspective on Ireland’s landscape and culture, with the Copper Coast and Waterford Greenway leading the way as standout attractions.

Visit Waterford described the accolade as a powerful endorsement of the county’s unique blend of coastal beauty, outdoor adventure and heritage.

At the heart of the recognition is the journey along the Copper Coast, a stretch of shoreline shaped by its 19th-century mining past and now renowned for its dramatic scenery and unspoiled beaches. The feature highlights locations such as Trá na mBó, Stradbally Cove, the Guillamene and Kilmurrin.

Complementing this is the Waterford Greenway, widely regarded as one of Ireland’s leading outdoor attractions stretching from Waterford City to Dungarvan through riverside views, viaducts and the foothills of the Comeragh Mountains.
