Those living in Greystones will no longer have the Donnybrook Fair store on their doorstep as it has announced that it will be closing for good this month.

The gourmet grocery store grew in popularity over the last 20 years, with several locations in the capital and in 2018, Supervalu owner Musgrave’s bought the chain for over €25million from its founders Joe and Mary Doyle.

After investing over €20.3 million into the shops, the company are now facing another closure this coming Saturday.

The store, located on the outskirts of Greystones town, opened its doors in the mid-noughties and was a popular stop for cafe lovers and those who liked a sandwich which was a bit more adventurous than ham and cheese.

With five locations in operation, the past few years have been difficult for the chain and in 2024 saw the closure of one of its shops on Baggot Street.

Fast forward to January 2026, when customers were informed that their shop in Dundrum Town Centre store was also going to close.

In a statement from Ian Meechan, the Greystones store manager, it read: ‘We regret to inform you that our Greystones store will be closing on 18th April 2026.’

‘We want to sincerely thank you for your loyalty and support over the years. We value each and every one of our customers, and it has been our pleasure to serve the community at this location.’

EVOKE have contacted the store for comment, but was informed that the reasons for closure could not be discussed.
