Multiple food products have been removed from supermarket shelves this week amid safety concerns.
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has issued several alerts, cautioning shoppers about particular batches that may present a health risk.
Dunnes Stores Plain Tortilla Wraps
A number of batches of Plain Tortilla Wraps stocked at Dunnes Stores have been withdrawn from sale owing to the potential presence of metal fragments.
The FSAI stated: “Dunnes Stores is recalling the above batches of its Plain Tortilla Wraps due to the possible presence of metal pieces. Recall notices will be displayed at point-of-sale.”
While the recall was initially announced in March, the implicated products remain within their best before dates.

The affected packs weigh 512g and carry best before dates of 29/5/2026, 30/5/2026 and 31/5/2026.
A Dunnes Stores spokesperson commented: “We apologise that it has been necessary to recall this product and for the inconvenience caused. Customers are advised to not use the affected products, instead to return it to a Dunnes Stores store for a full refund. No receipt is required.”
Pettitt’s Cook at Home Basil and Pesto Chicken Fillets
A batch of Pettitt’s Cook at Home Basil and Pesto Chicken Fillets has been withdrawn from sale owing to the detection of Salmonella.
The FSAI stated: “The above batch of Pettitt’s Cook at Home Basil and Pesto Chicken Fillets is being recalled due to the presence of Salmonella. Although the implicated batch is past its use by date, the product is suitable for home freezing. Consumers are advised to check their freezers for the implicated batch.”

“People infected with Salmonella typically develop symptoms between 12 and 36 hours after infection, but this can range between 6 and 72 hours. The most common symptom is diarrhoea, which can sometimes be bloody.
“Other symptoms may include fever, headache and abdominal cramps. The illness usually lasts 4 to 7 days. Diarrhoea can occasionally be severe enough to require hospital admission. The elderly, infants, and those with impaired immune systems are more likely to have a severe illness.”
The implicated batch weighs 380g and carries a use by date of 30/03/2026.
