The fully protected segregated cycle path would connect Rosses Point to Sligo and onto Strandhill.
Sligo County Council is being urged to find funding avenues to start the first phase of the proposal which involves the section from Sligo to Rosses Point.
While the idea has been flagged in the past, a detailed submission has been now been lodged to the local authority.
