Wildlife inspectors seized 50,000 shark fins in protected species exploitation

Not your average shark tale.. or average shipment.

NASHVILLE, Tenn (WZTV) – In October 2025, US. Fish and Wildlife Service inspectors seized 50,000 shark fins.

Inspectors discovered more than 1,600 pounds of shark fins worth over $1 million across multiple U.S. ports.

Coordinated trafficking operations were moving disguised cargo through Alaska, Kentucky, and Ohio.

USFWS explained that this was an organized criminal network exploiting protected species for profit.
