Two of the best attacks in world football will once again be on display as Real Madrid attempt to overhaul a one-goal deficit against Bayern Munich and secure a place in the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Bayern will rightfully start the tie as favorites after delivering a brilliant performance in Madrid. Vincent Kompany’s side were excellent throughout and thoroughly deserved their 2-1 victory, with the attacking trio of Luis Diaz, Harry Kane and Michael Olise giving the Real defenders a rough ride for the entire 90 minutes.
Bayern’s remarkable attacking quality was again on display at the weekend as they secured a thumping 5-0 win at St. Pauli to move 12 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga. Even more impressive was the fact that this was achieved despite seven changes being made from the side that won in Madrid.
Real Madrid, meanwhile, looked well off the pace as they drew 1-1 with Girona on Friday night. The result heaped more pressure on manager Alvaro Arbeloa, who will need a huge performance from his side to save their Champions League ambitions and perhaps his job.
