For the avoidance of doubt: Donald Trump is Scottish American, not Irish American.
His mother, Mary Ann MacLeod, was born on the Isle of Lewis off the coast of Scotland in 1930. She grew up speaking Gaelic as her first language and didn’t learn English until she started school.
