Paddy’s tipster fancies Watkins to whack Villa into the Europa League semis on Thursday!

It’s Europa League quarter-final second-leg time on Thursday night as Aston Villa take on Bologna for a spot in the last four of Europe’s second tier tournament. Ahead of a big night at Villa Park, PP News tipster Feargal Brennan has put together four selections for a Bet Builder on Thursday night’s fixture.

He’s included three player picks which are covered by Paddy’s Super Sub offer, meaning if the player gets substituted, the pick will carry over to his replacement So, let’s get to his Aston Villa v Bologna betting tips.

Villa to win & both teams to score

With Villa effectively assured of Champions League qualification for next season via a top five finish in the Premier League, they can really go for it now in the Europa League.

Seven wins from eight games in the league phase – including a 1-0 home victory over Bologna back in September – powered Emery’s charges directly into the knockout stages. They brushed aside Lille in the last 16, with home and away wins, and Watkins’ late salvo ensured a firm victory in Italy seven days ago.

Bologna edged past Brann in the previous round, but this looks a step too far for them in front of what will be a rocking Villa Park. However, the hosts might not have it all their own way with just three clean sheets kept in the last 10 over all competitions, and Bologna have only failed to score once in their last 14 outings.

Ollie Watkins to score

Watkins popped up with two second half goals out in Bologna on the back of bagging in the away win at Lille last month. He looks to be ending the campaign strongly, with four goals in his last five starts, and a goal-filled few weeks could seal his spot in England’s World Cup squad this summer.

Morgan Rogers 3+ foul involvements

Morgan Rogers has been a key man for Villa this season with 16 goal contributions across all competitions. Despite not managing a goal or assist so far in the Europa League knockouts, he’s always involved, whether that’s by being fouled or dishing out a few late tackles of his own.

Three of his last five European games have seen him rack up three or more foul involvements including five in the first-leg. He’s the creative and combative heartbeat of Emery’s team and is also on Thomas Tuchel’s maybe list for the World Cup in June.

Lewis Ferguson 2+ fouls committed

Bologna captain Lewis Ferguson will again go eyeball to eyeball with Rogers after feisty battle last week. The Scotland international was fouled once and committed one foul in the first-leg and he’s also the top fouler in the Europa League this season on 27.

Three of his four Europa games prior to last week featured three or more fouls given away, so I can see him making at last two here, with Bologna needing goals on the night.
