SEOUL, Sept 24 — K-pop star Kang Daniel is pressing ahead with his North American tour despite a string of misfortunes — including the theft of key concert gear — that has fans rallying behind him.
The 27-year-old singer revealed via social media on September 23 that a staff vehicle was broken into while his team was travelling from Los Angeles to San Jose, resulting in the loss of stage costumes, hair and makeup equipment and official merchandise.
His agency Aira told South Korea-based news site Chosun Biz that the incident took place September 20, shortly after his Los Angeles stop.
“We got all our stuff stolen — outfits, hair and makeup tools, even MD goods,” the former WANNAONE member posted on social media, adding a photo with a thumbs-up and the caption.
“But let’s still have a fun show lol I’m okay.”

His agency also said that staff members scrambled to nearby malls to replace the missing items so the San Jose performance could proceed without disruption on September 22.
This comes after a New Jersey date scheduled for September 6 was cancelled just two hours before showtime due to what Kang’s agency cited as “insufficient local system preparation and operational problems.”
Kang, who was already at the venue, personally addressed the audience to apologise.
The agency promised full refunds, saying that moving forward with an incomplete setup “could be a greater insult to fans.”
Despite the rough start, supporters have flooded social media with encouraging messages such as “this counts as warding off bad luck” and “only good things will come from now on.”
Kang’s 12-city North American trek, which began September 3, continues with stops in Washington, New York, Chicago and Los Angeles before heading to South America for shows in Argentina and Brazil.
