A man being questioned over alleged criminal activities managed to escape from Kilkenny city garda station earlier this week.

It is understood that the man, aged in his 40s, managed to flee from custody through a door which is normally secured on Monday night.

The man, who allegedly is linked to drug gangs in the southeast, is yet to be located and re-arrested.

In a statement gardai confirmed that they are “ investigating the escape from garda custody” of the man from a garda station in the eastern region.

Garda investigations are ongoing.
