Three young men have been injured following a single-vehicle crash involving a van in Co Limerick.

The three occupants – all males in their teens and 20s – were driving on the R445 Dublin Road in Limerick at around 5am this morning.

The driver and passengers sustained injuries and were transported to University Hospital Limerick for treatment.

One of the occupants (20s) suffered serious injuries.

Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are currently examining the scene and traffic diversions are in place.

In a statement, An Garda Síochána has requested assistance with its investigation from the public as to the circumstances surrounding the crash.

“Shortly before 5am on Saturday, 18th April 2026, Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a single-vehicle collision involving a van on the R445 Dublin Road in Limerick,” a spokesperson said.

“The three occupants of the van— all male and aged in their mid teens, late teens and 20s—were transported to University Hospital Limerick for medical assessment following the collision. The male in his 20s sustained serious injuries.

“The scene has been preserved for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local traffic diversions are currently in effect.

“Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward. Road users with camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling on Dublin Road, Limerick City, at the time are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
