A teenage man has died after being struck by a car in Cork late on Friday night.

The incident happened on the R623 at Hoffmann Park, Little Island at 11.50pm when gardaí received a report that a pedestrian had been hit by a car and injured.

The pedestrian was taken from the scene to Cork University Hospital where he has since died.

Forensic Collision investigators attended the scene of the incident and an examination took place.

Gardaí are now appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.

Road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam footage, and were travelling in the area between 1pm and midnight on Friday are asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
