Demi Lovato kicked off her It’s Not That Deep tour on April 13. Her fellow Disney Channel star, Selena Gomez, attended the concert at the Kia Center in Orlando, Florida, to show her support. She posted to her Instagram Stories that night, saying, “I am in tears, Demi. This was hands down one of the best shows. Oh and the VOCALS? Psh *blown away*”
Gomez also posted a photograph of herself hugging Lovato with a heart emoji on top of the image.
Gomez and Lovato first met as child actors on Barney & Friends. They both went on to become hit stars on Disney and costarred in the 2009 movie, Princess Protection Program.
Unfortunately, the pair grew apart over the years. There were even rumors that a feud had developed between the two. However, Lovato insisted that they were simply not friends anymore and had “no beef” or animosity between them.
“When you grow up with somebody, you’re always going to have love for them. But I’m not friends with her,” Lovato told Harper’s BAZAAR in 2020. “I will always have love for her, and I wish everybody nothing but the best.”
Lovato also commented on Gomez when it was announced that she was getting married to Benny Blanco. “I couldn’t be happier for her,” she said on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen in 2025. “She’s engaged. I just wish her the best.”
During the first night of her tour, Lovato also reunited with her ex-boyfriend and Camp Rock costar, Joe Jonas. He appeared on stage to sing a duet with her. They performed “This Is Me” and “On the Line.”
Lovato’s It’s Not That Deep tour will be continuing to take place in concert arenas throughout the spring. The final stop is in Houston on May 25.
