Coronation Street spoilers follow from Monday’s episode (20 April), which is available to watch now on ITVX and YouTube but hasn’t aired on ITV1 yet.
Coronation Street schemer Carl Webster ruthlessly uses his beating to his advantage tonight as he resorts to blackmail.
Carl cruelly targets his own mother Debbie as he sets his sights on taking over the Chariot Square Hotel.
Monday’s episode starts with a major shock for Debbie, when she receives a call to let her know that Carl has been admitted to hospital.

When Carl is interviewed by the police, he makes out that he can’t remember who assaulted him.
There’s no family loyalty at play, though, as Carl is already plotting how to make a fortune from this situation…
In a tense chat with Debbie at the hospital, he explains: “I told them it’s all a bit fuzzy. Depending on how this chat goes, my memory might come flooding back.”

As he continues to twist the knife, Carl adds: “Unless you want to spend what limited time you have left talking to Ronnie behind glass, then you’re gonna have to give up the one thing you’ve truly loved.
“I want half of that hotel written over to me. Not in a will. Now.”
Later this week, Carl wastes no time before making his presence felt at the hotel – even before Debbie has signed any paperwork.

Or will things take an even darker turn, with Carl one of five characters who could be killed off on the day of Carla Connor and Lisa Swain’s wedding this fortnight?
Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
