Travel receipts exceeded €1 billion in the first two months of the year, much higher than the €589 million a year earlier.
This impressive increase, which translates into 70.7%, according to official data from the Bank of Greece, reflects a strong momentum that characterized the start of 2026, with foreign arrivals increasing by 38.5%.
This trend comes in addition to the increasing indications of an extension of the tourism season.
However, that momentum was interrupted after the outbreak of the war in the Gulf at the end of February, creating concerns in the market and a revision of short-term estimates.
