The 35-year-old from Ballymahon, Co Longford, has been announced as a celebrity contestant on the 35th season of the major American show.
She was announced by Hulu during the Get Real House event in Los Angeles on Wednesday.
“A brand new bombshell is entering the ballroom,” said one of the DWTS hosts Alfonso Ribeiro during the Hulu event.
Speaking to the US outlet Bustle after the announcement, she said it was a “surreal moment” when she found out about the opportunity.
“I was actually going through New York airport, JFK, I got the call from my American agent, and I froze in the middle of the airport. I was just [in] tears.
“I couldn’t walk, I couldn’t speak. It just felt like a surreal moment because I wanted it so bad for so long, and it was the only other show that I wanted to do as a contestant.
“After DWTS, I think I’m probably done. I mean, never say never, because I don’t wanna be that person but it’s the only other show on my vision board contestant-wise,” she added.

She gained prominence by starring on the fourth season of Love Island UK before appearing on The Traitors US season four.
The reality star, who has amassed 4.3 million followers on her Instagram, made it to the final of The Traitors as a faithful and finished as a runner-up.
“She went from looking for love to looking for who to trust, and now she’s looking to win the Mirrorball,” reads the post on DWTS social media.
“We’re welcoming Maura Higgins to DWTS on ABC, Disney+, and Hulu this fall,” it added.
