An absolutely awful start saw Heimir Hallgrimsson’s men go two goals behind as Barnabas Varga found the opener after just two minutes, before Roland Sallai doubled their lead with a header 13 minutes later. Ireland had a few half chances before the break through Matt Doherty and Evan Ferguson, but all in all it just hasn’t been good enough from the hosts. Hallgrimsson faces a big team talk at the break as Ireland look to ensure this campaign isn’t over before it has barley begun.
