Summary
Valve delayed the Steam Machine, Steam Frame, and Steam Controller launches due to rising RAM and storage costs.
A leaked review claims the Steam Controller will cost $99, far above the ~$65 Xbox Series controller.
Treat the leak skeptically, as it might be false; wait for official Valve confirmation before trusting the price.
In recent months, Valve has been working away on three hardware releases – the Steam Machine, the Steam Frame, and the Steam Controller – but things haven’t been going great for their release. We know they exist, and Valve itself has confirmed they exist, but due to the rising RAM and storage prices, the company has been forced to delay the release date, as it seemingly wants to release all three at the same time.
This does mean that we don’t know when the new range of Valve hardware will release, nor do we know how much it will cost. However, if a recent leak is to be believed, we just got a sneak peek at the Steam Controller’s price. And if you’re expecting a price tag that’s more in line with console pricing, I’m afraid to say you’re thinking too low.
The following news report is based on a leak. No matter how reputable or believable a leak seems to be, never treat it as gospel until the company itself confirms the findings. People can, will, and have faked leaks before. Always regard them with a pinch of salt, and use your better judgment before emotionally investing in them.

The new Steam Controller may cost $99, claims a leak
It puts the controller on the high end of the price range

As reported by Vice, the Steam Controller price reportedly leaked online after a reviewer accidentally published their findings on YouTube ahead of the embargo. The video was taken down again very quickly, but someone managed to record the entire review and posted it online for everyone to see.
The video claims the controller will sell for an eye-watering $99, which is quite a bit more than the ~$65 people are paying for an Xbox Series X|S controller. If the leak is true, it’s setting a worrying precedent for the other two products Valve is planning to release; given how people were hoping for a sub-$1,000 Steam Machine, seeing the controller at this price level is quite worrying.
Again, it’s worth noting that the only source we have for this price tag is someone claiming they recorded a video of a pre-emptively released video. There’s every chance the leak isn’t true, so don’t invest too deeply into that $99 price
tag until Valve itself announces the cost.
