Don’t Kill The Vibe has been hailed as the ‘song of the summer’

Bono’s eldest daughter Jordan Joy has released her first single under her own name to acclaim from REM legend Michael Stipe who called it ‘the song of the summer’.
Don’t Kill The Vibe was released on Friday and has been hugely supported by major streaming services Apple Music and Spotify. It was co-produced by Catherine Marks (Wolf Alice) and Jackson Phillips (Day Wave).
Among the other celebrities to back the incredibly assured indie pop debut were supermodels Helena Christensen and Christy Turlington, late Beatle John Lennon’s eldest son Julian and Hollywood legend Jessica Alba, who posted the tune online to her 22 million followers.

Jordan, 36, who shares her May 10 birthday with her U2 frontman dad, is the fourth member of the Hewson family to release music, following her father, her brother Elijah (who sings and plays guitar with Inhaler) and her Hollywood actress sister Eve, who performed several songs for the 2023 musical film Flora and Son.
Jordan said she was “excited to share this song” that she wanted to evoke “indie New York”, and she promised that there was “more to come”.
She previously released a number of songs under the name Tenderhooks
The highly promising release comes just weeks after U2 unleashed their first new collections of music in eight years. The two EPs, Days of Ash and Easter Lily, have been widely acclaimed by both fans and music critics alike.
Columbia University graduate Jordan launched her own tech company Speakable in 2016. It promotes social activism and was featured in Forbes magazine’s Social Entrepreneurs list for Europe.
At the time she said: “Starting a business is like sprinting a f**king marathon, except if the marathon was also a labyrinth. And there were ghouls. And no David Bowie.”
Earleir this year, Jordan’s youngest brother John Hewson starred in RTE TV series These Sacred Voews alongside Love/Hate’s Tom Vaughan-Lawlor.
The writer and director behind These Sacred Vows, John Butler, said at the time: “I think it’s one of his first acting roles. He is so good and such a terrific actor.
“He did a great reading for us and he had the same sensibility in his acting as everyone else I cast.”
