Shortly after the full-time whistle sounded at Thomond Park on Saturday night, the Munster and Ulster players embraced in a colourful scene that was more akin to an A&E department.
Two players – Calvin Nash and Ben Carson – stood by the tunnel, on crutches, staring blankly ahead, resigned to their fate.
