LIMERICK hurling supporters made the most of the fine weather to journey south to the banks of the River Lee for Sunday’s Munster Senior Hurling Championship at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh.
John Kiely’s side lost out to Cork by two points but the Green and White Army were in full voice for an enthralling tie, which was attended by 43,369.
Limerick raced into an early lead before Cork punished a mistake to score a first half goal. Limerick led 0-16 to 1-11 at half time but captain Cian Lynch was then shown a red card forcing the men in green to play the final 20-minutes with 14 men.
In the latest dramatic tie between the counties, Cork scored the final three points to secure a 2-22 to 1-23 victory over a Limerick side that lined out without the injured Aaron Gillane.
This bank holiday weekend, supporters will be back on their travels when Limerick play Clare in Ennis at 2pm on Sunday.
