When Lady Helen tied the knot with her art dealer husband, Timothy Taylor, at St George’s Chapel in 1992, tradition dictated that she must wear a British designer for the occasion. She opted for Catherine Walker, but on a visit to Via Borgonuovo, she watched on as Armani picked out her ‘going away’ dress and a mint-green ensemble for the Duchess of Kent.

Royal guests at the wedding included Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, the Queen Mother, Prince Charles and Princess Diana, Princes William and Harry, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward. Lady Helen wore the Kent fringe tiara, and her Catherine Walker gown featured embroidery inspired by the family’s heirloom jewel.
After decades of working alongside Armani (who addressed her as ‘Cara Helena’), the pair went their separate ways in 2008. Lady Helen would spend her time working with clients of her husband’s gallery, taking them out for lunches at Le Caprice and The Ivy, as well as raising her children: Columbus, Cassius, Elosie, and Estella.
