The single vehicle crash in Galway occurred at Tyrur, Newbridge, Ballinasloe, at around 9.45am on Wednesday, April 29.
The driver, a man aged in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been removed to the mortuary at Portiuncula Hospital.
No other injuries have been reported.
The road is currently closed while forensic collision investigators undertake a technical examination.
Gardaí in Ballinasloe are appealing to anyone who witnessed the accident to come forward.
Road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam footage and were travelling in the area between 9.30am and 9.50am are asked to make this available to investigating gardaí.

Separately, a man has died following a road traffic collision off the the R591 road between Dunmanus and Barlycove, Goleen, Co. Cork at approximately 11am on Wednesday.
A motorcycle collided with a pole and the driver, a man in his 20s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
His body has since been removed from the scene and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
The road off the R591 known locally as the Dunmanus Road/Coast Road to Barleycove remains closed at this time to facilitate an examination by Forensic Collision Investigators.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to contact them.
Any road users who were traveling in the area between 10:45 am and 11:15 am are asked to make contact with investigating Gardaí. Anyone with camera footage (including mobile phone or dash-cam) is asked to make that footage available.
