Coronation Street viewers believe they’ve worked out a significant ‘plot twist’ regarding who murdered Theo Silverton after he was finally unveiled as the Weatherfield killing victim.
Back in February, a flashforward episode of the ITV soap confirmed the abuser as one of five potential victims of a death destined to shake the cobbles, alongside Carl Webster, Jodie Ramsey, Megan Walsh and Maggie Driscoll.
During that episode, Betsy Swain was shown being questioned by police following her discovery of a dead body belonging to someone she knew. The distressed teenager explained she’d been attending her mum, Lisa Swain, and Carla Connor’s wedding, and had stumbled upon the body while heading into town.
As viewers are aware, Lisa and Carla’s wedding actually occurred on April 23. Yet there was some puzzlement over why Betsy’s scream was audible, though mistaken for ‘foxes’ by her new stepmother, while she wasn’t shown finding the murder victim as depicted in the flashforward episode, reports the Manchester Evening News.
This was because Corrie had planned a week of drama, which has since taken viewers back to the same day, with each instalment of the long-running programme shown from the viewpoint of a different potential victim, culminating in the major revelation on Friday (May 1). During Monday’s (April 27) episode of Corrie, Theo breached the conditions of an order to stay away from his husband, Todd Grimshaw, who had courageously reported his partner to the police after enduring months of domestic abuse at his hands. Theo was furious to discover Todd at their flat, in the process of preparing to depart for Thailand.

A confrontation unfolded inside the flat, during which George Shuttleworth stepped in to help Todd flee, despite being struck by the violent character himself. As police descended on the scene, Theo managed to slip away, only to corner Todd once again. Fortunately, George Shuttleworth appeared just in time and managed to defuse the tense stand-off.
Yet matters were far from over. Having already been assaulted by Theo, George set his next scheme in motion by feigning a leg cramp before launching himself from his seat towards Theo, bundling him into the bathroom while Todd tied a dressing gown cord around the door handle to prevent his escape, buying the pair precious time to flee.
However, as officers arrived, Theo once again evaded capture. Later, as darkness fell, he tracked Todd down once more. The undertaker had jumped into a taxi bound for the airport, only to realise he had left his phone behind. He stopped the cab and asked the driver to wait while he retrieved it, only to come face-to-face with Theo on the dimly lit street, clutching his missing handset.
The characters next appeared during Friday’s episode, when Todd played a perilous game of cat-and-mouse in a bid to outwit a vengeful Theo. Todd managed to conceal himself, and he rang Christina Boyd to inform her and George of what had taken place. It wasn’t long before Christina headed off to locate him, instructing George to remain at the house.

Meanwhile, Summer Spellman found herself caught in the crossfire when she came face-to-face with a sinister Theo, who forced her to surrender her phone, which he subsequently hurled out of the window. Shortly afterwards, outside, a jovial Betsy was given the shock of her life as she stumbled across the villain’s lifeless body.
With no obvious explanation as to how he met his end, Corrie fans have been quick to share their theories online, with some believing a major ‘plot twist’ could be in store regarding Theo’s killer. Alongside a clip of Christina, one fan said: “Hope it’s this queen that went and took Theo out… and gets away with it! She clocked his a** from day one! #Corrie #CoronationStreet.”
A second person predicted: “Ok so I think was Christina! Well Summer and Christina, but I think she makes the fatal blow! #corrie.” A third wrote: “Right, that’s it…. I’ve convinced myself Christina is the one to blame for Theo’s #Corrie.” Someone else posted: “I really love George and Todd relationship but I’m scared about Christina now…. Too long to find Todd #Corrie.”
A fifth shared: “Christina killed Theo when she went to look for Todd.” Another penned: “What if christina heard whatever might have happened with summer and theo and she came to her rescue bc surely george’s jumper is a red herring.” Someone else commented: “I have 3 suspects as to who killed off theo and my top one is christina!!!”. A seventh added alongside a picture of Christina: “I’d love it if it turns out that she ended Theo and just…gets away with it. Diva behaviour.”
