The comments come months after their eldest son Brooklyn Peltz Beckham accused the couple of controlling narratives in the press about his family and trying to “ruin” his relationship with his wife Nicola Peltz Beckham.
In an Instagram post in January, Peltz Beckham claimed his family values “public promotion and endorsements above all else”, adding that “Brand Beckham comes first”.

Appearing on Emma Grede’s Aspire podcast this week, Beckham (52) said she was “proud” of all of her children: “Being very close is really, really important to us and just ultimately we want the kids to be hardworking, kind.
“I’ve always wanted to be the best mum that I could be and look after the kids, but I also feel that it’s been part of my job to really help them fulfil their full potential and for them to recognise what their sense of purpose is.
“With Cruz, for example, it was his music. And anything that I could do to support him, to encourage and to help him, that’s my job as his mum.
“It’s never about being pushy or forcing, it’s being there to support.”
Beckham and former England player David Beckham (51), known as Posh and Becks, have four children: Brooklyn (27), Romeo (23), Cruz (21) and Harper (14).

Cruz has followed in the footsteps of his mother and has pursued a career as the frontman of Cruz Beckham and The Breakers.
Beckham acknowledged her children have had a “very different upbringing” from that of her and her husband, adding: “I think the world is a very different place now, to what it was when they were younger, and we’ve always tried to protect the children as much as we can.”
She explained the family had “always been really close” and were “quite traditional”.
Asked how the scrutiny she faces has shaped how she parents, Beckham said: “I think that it’s very different parenting adult children to parenting smaller children and I’m just trying to do the best that I can, and they grew up so quickly.
“It’s my job to make sure that my kids are the best versions of themselves and that they feel fulfilled. I always encourage them to dream big and then dream even bigger.

“The greatest compliment… is when someone will say: ‘I met your kids and they were great kids’.

Addressing the “Brand Beckham’” concept, she said: “When myself and David first met, it was never the intention to start a brand.
“You know people talk about Brand Beckham, and that has happened so organically.”
She said that it “was never something that we together ever even discussed”, adding that “we’re a couple of builders, that’s what we do”.
It comes after social media posts in which Peltz Beckham said he had been “controlled by my parents for most of my life” and did not want to “reconcile” with his family.
