Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, put a new spin on her regal wardrobe as she stepped out in Stevenage on Tuesday

The Duchess of Edinburgh looked Runway-ready as she stepped out for a solo outing in Stevenage on Tuesday. Sophie, 61, was in town to visit Airbus Defence and Space, and dressed for the springtime weather in an elegant ensemble that was perfect for the start of garden party season.
The mother of two was photographed wearing a cream gabardine wool jacket from Prada, a rarely seen piece from her wardrobe, which tends to feature more patterned and floral garments. The Duchess paired the jacket with a flowing ‘Dugald Bouquet’ skirt from Gabriela Hearst, a designer who has long been a favourite of the royal family, including the Princess of Wales.
Sophie completed the look with a pair of Jimmy Choo heels and a crossbody bag from Valextra, as well as the Adore Jewels drop earrings that she has long had in ready rotation for her royal outings.

It was a characteristically busy day for the Duchess of Edinburgh, who returned to London later that afternoon to view the annual exhibition of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters at the Mall Galleries.
Sophie changed into a new ensemble for her second engagement, taking a leaf out of Catherine’s style playbook in a navy Prince of Wales check dress by Emilia Wickstead. (The Princess of Wales is known to be a fan of the pattern, with her many outings in the check thought to be a subtle way of supporting her husband, Prince William.)
