Wexford General Hospital has seen a six-fold increase in its spend on agency healthcare assistants over a three year period, while the spend on agency employed nurses has quadrupled during the same period.
These figures emerge as it was revealed that all recruitment for “non-frontline, non-critical” posts within HSE Dublin and South East is to be paused indefinitely amid a budget deficit of €37.4 million.
