The Kasabian frontman on dealing with imposter syndrome, leaving the wild years behind, and whether Calvin Harris will join him on stage this summer

If anything would get you over imposter syndrome, you’d imagine it would be writing one of the festival bangers of the summer. But though the chords for Kasabian’s new single Great Pretender came unusually easy to Serge Pizzorno – “you wish it could be like this every time” – his lyrics deal with self doubt that, despite rock stardom, seemingly never goes away.
“Everyone can relate to that,” he says. “Just feeling like an imposter. On the surface you’re dealing with it, but deep down you’re going, what is actually going on? When you become a dad, you get home and go, what? [He has two boys, Ennio and Lucio]. And somehow you just pick it up.”
