Jack Egan (22) who lived in Adamstown and Carrig on Bannow, Co Wexford died in a single vehicle collision involving a motorcycle in Glenour, Adamstown on Friday, May 8 at 9.20 p.m.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to the mortuary in University Hospital Waterford where a post-mortem examination was carried out.

Jack was described as a popular man in the community who had a plethora of talents under his belt, which included training as an apprentice electrician, boxing, and performing on his guitar.
Speaking on the tragedy, local councillor Pat Barden said the community was in shock.
“He was known as a very talented sportsman and everybody is in shock over what happened. He was hugely popular and it is just devastating for his family, the Egans, the Cummins, and the Powers, who are respected greatly in the area. My sincere condolences,” he said.
Having trained as a boxer for a number of years, Jack was well-accomplished in his field, having won the Leinster Championship J1 60kg title in 2020 in addition to other accolades.
In a Facebook tribute from St Michael’s Boxing Club in New Ross, they said: “It is with a heavy heart we write this as we learn of the passing of one of our ex boxers Jack Egan. We would like to send our deepest condolences to Jack’s family and friends. Fly high champ.”
Similarly, St Abban’s Kilmyshall Boxing Club also paid tribute, writing: “Everyone at St Abban’s Kilmyshall Boxing Club are saddened to hear such tragic news of the loss of Jack Egan. We would like to pass on our sincere condolences to our club secretary Lisa Egan, David, and all the family at this very sad time. Thoughts and prayers are with ye all. Rest in peace Jack. Fly high champ.”
Jack had also played for a number of years with the Faythe Harriers and the club posted their own tribute on their Facebook page.
“The club expresses its condolences to the Egan family and to the extended families in Carrig-On-Bannow and Adamstown on the recent sad death of Jack. Jack was an underage player with us for a number of years and his father David was also involved with the club, while the youngest sibling currently plays underage with us. May he rest in peace.”
On behalf of Coláiste Abbáin, principal John Nolan extended his sympathies to the family.
“On behalf of Coláiste Abbáin, we extend our deepest sympathies to Amy and David, Lisa, Jessie, Dylan and Ruben, and to the extended Egan family on the heart-breaking loss of Jack. Jack leaves behind a lasting legacy in our school community through the kindness, respect and friendship he showed to his fellow students, teachers and the wider community. He was a wonderful young man, full of character, and a true friend to so many in the school. Jack will always be fondly remembered by both staff and students and his memory will remain close to our hearts.”
Mourners and loved ones took to RIP.ie to leave tributes describing his kind character and sense of humour.
One mourner wrote: “I had the pleasure of training and boxing alongside Jack who was always working hard and cracking jokes when we were training. He will be very missed by all of those who knew him.”
Another wrote: “He was a lovely chap with a wonderful smile and full of charm. He will be so fondly remembered by us all.”
Another tribute read: “Jack would light up any room with his smile. I have very fond memories of Jack from his time in Coláiste Abbáin. A very talented young man.”
A further tribute read: “Fly high Jack, hope your doing all the singing and dancing up there.”
Jack was the beloved son of Amy and David, stepson to Lisa, brother to Jessie, Dylan and Ruben, and grandson to Steve and Jenny (Power) and Nicholas and Esther (Egan), he will be sadly missed by his loving aunts and uncles Anna, Keith, Steve, Lisa, Mandy ,Rosie, Elaine, cousins, extended family and his many wonderful friends.
His remains will be reposing in his grandparents residence in Carrig on Bannow on Wednesday May 13 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., his funeral mass will take place on Thursday at 2 p.m. in St. Abban’s Church Adamstown followed by burial in Carrig on Bannow cemetery.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
