A young woman in her 20s who died in a two-vehicle collision in north Tipperary on Tuesday evening has been named locally as Laura Kennedy.
Ms Kennedy died in a road traffic crash involving two cars on the Nenagh to Dromineer Road R495, near Nenagh, which occurred at approximately 9pm on Tuesday May 12.
A section of the road remained closed for technical examination on Wednesday. Laura was the driver of one of the cars and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her body was later taken to University Hospital Limerick where a post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course. The coroner has been notified.
Ms Kennedy is understood to be from the Ballywilliam area, and was widely known as an excellent athlete, and enjoyed music. Her grandparents are from the area where the accident occurred.

Laura and her twin Aishling excelled at sport, particularly cross country and camogie, and she played with Burgess Duharra Camogie GAA Club and Tipperary development camogie squads.
There was a sense of shock and disbelief in the area, said one local person familiar with the situation. Ms Kennedy was related through her mother’s side to Tipperary senior hurler Willie Connors, a family renowned for their athleticism.
Mr Connors, from nearby Killadangan, won an All-Ireland Senior Hurling medal last year when Tipperary enjoyed a resounding victory over Cork.
Any road users, who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling on the Nenagh to Dromineer Road R495, between 8.15pm and 9.15pm on Tuesday, May 12, are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
