Much has been made of Brentford’s Irish contingent this season, and with good reason too.
Under the stewardship of Keith Andrews, the Bees have become an unlikely force to be reckoned with in the Premier League, and remain right in the hunt for a Champions League place.
Given that many were tipping the inexperienced Andrews to lead Brentford to relegation at the beginning of the season, it’s been a quite remarkable campaign.

Central to it all have been captain Nathan Collins and shot-stopper Caoimhín Kelleher.
Collins and Kelleher’s connection has developed from years of lining out together for Ireland, but it has blossomed in red and white this season.
All three have become heroes to Brentford fans this season, and their influence is also evident on the training ground.

Brentford’s Irish spread of food
On Wednesday afternoon, Brentford shared brilliant footage from their training ground at Hounslow, West London.
In light of their pronounced Irish influence, Brentford welcomed renowned Dublin-born chef Anna Haugh to the training ground to produce an Irish-themed menu.
Haugh is the founder and lead chef of the celebrated Irish restaurant, Myrtle, near Chelsea. Her culinary expertise was apparent even from the photographs of the food.
Haugh and the Myrtle team put together a menu consisting of Irish classics, with beef and apple pie seeming standouts.
The apple pie, at least, appeared hugely popular among the non-Irish contingent in the squad; “Lots of meat. You need to try Irish beef,” was Nathan Collins’s advice.
Collins, Caoimhín Kelleher, and Keith Andrews were understandably the most excited of the bunch, with Andrews and Collins excitedly making recommendations to their teammates.
“You’ve turned a few people that weren’t sure,” Andrews joked to Haugh.
It’s fair to say that the Dublin-based chef did a hugely impressive job with the spread.
Whether it can help to fuel Brentford to a Champions League place remains to be seen.
